Car mover jack is mainly used to lift the car so that the wheels of the car leave the ground and it is convenient to replace the tires. This kind of jack can play a role when the car needs to move in a small range, such as adjusting the parking position in the garage or moving the faulty car to a safer position for maintenance. Car mover jack can lift the vehicle and realize the displacement of the vehicle through some special designs (such as with rollers).
Generally, the hydraulic principle is used. There is a hydraulic system inside the jack. When the user operates the handle, hydraulic oil is pressed into the piston cylinder of the jack. The piston moves upward under the pressure of hydraulic oil, thus lifting the car. For the jack with displacement function, there is usually a roller or a rotatable chassis at the bottom. After the car is lifted, the car can be moved by pushing the jack.
Types of Car Mover Jack
Scissor positioning jack: This is a relatively common one. Its structure is similar to scissors, and it can be lifted by crossing metal rods. This kind of jack is usually small and easy to carry, and it is usually found in the spare tools of cars. However, its lifting height is limited and its bearing capacity is relatively weak.
Hydraulic positioning jack: it works by hydraulic principle, and its lifting force is relatively large, which can lift heavy cars. Some high-end hydraulic car mover jacks are also equipped with electronic control devices, which can control the lifting height and displacement operation more accurately.
Combined positioning jack: it combines the characteristics of a scissors positioning jack and a hydraulic positioning jack, or it is a combination of multiple functions such as shifting device on the basis of jack.
Advantages of Car Mover Jack
Easy to use: it can be operated by a single person, and the vehicle can be lifted by pedal hydraulic or manual pulling. There is no need to lift the vehicle chassis, just clamp the wheels.
Strong stability: the design has anti-skid function to ensure the safety of the vehicle when moving.
Wide scope of application: suitable for all types of vehicles, including cars, SUVs, and light trucks.
How to Use the Car Mover Jack?
Choose a suitable location: park the vehicle on a flat and solid ground. If the ground is soft sand, mud or slope, the jack may sink or the vehicle may slide, leading to danger. Avoid using it on the ground with oil stains or other smooth substances.
Ensure that the vehicle is in the parking brake state (pull the hand brake), and if it is a manual car, you can put the gear into the first gear or reverse gear (according to the direction of the parking slope); If it is an automatic car, the gear should be put into the "P" gear to prevent the vehicle from moving during the jack lifting.
Determine the supporting point of car mover jack: the supporting point position of different models is different. Generally speaking, there will be specially designed jack support points at the bottom of the vehicle. These support points are usually at the edge of the vehicle chassis and are thickened or reinforced metal parts. Accurate support point position information can be found in the vehicle user manual.
Place the car mover jack: place the car mover jack under the supporting point of the vehicle correctly, and ensure that the jack is completely in contact with the supporting point and perpendicular to the ground. If the shifting jack of the car is not placed stably, it may fall when lifting the car.
Start lifting the vehicle: To move the hydraulic positioning jack, press the handle up and down to raise the piston of the jack. Every time you press the handle, pay attention to the state of the jack and the vehicle. At the beginning lifting the vehicle with the jack may take a lot of effort, but as the vehicle is gradually lifted, the operation will be relatively easier.
Reach the right height: raise the vehicle to the right height of the tires off the ground. Generally speaking, tire replacement and other operations can be carried out when the tire leaves the ground about 2-3 cm. If you need to use the shift function, you may need to raise it a little higher to ensure that the roller can move smoothly, but be careful not to raise it too high to avoid the vehicle losing stability.
Check the shifting device: Before moving the vehicle, check again whether the roller at the shifting bottom of the vehicle can rotate normally, and ensure that the connection between the jack and the vehicle chassis is still firm.
Move the vehicle: slowly push the vehicle to move in the required direction. Pay attention to controlling the direction and speed during the movement to avoid the vehicle colliding with the surrounding objects. If you are moving in a relatively narrow space, it is best to have someone to observe and command around the vehicle.
Prepare to lower the vehicle: After completing operations such as shifting or tire replacement, prepare to lower the vehicle. If the hydraulic positioning jack is displaced, there is usually a valve (pressure relief valve) to control the lowering of the jack. For scissor positioning dolly, it is necessary to rotate the handle in the opposite direction to lower the vehicle.
Lower the vehicle slowly: slowly open the displaced pressure relief valve of the hydraulic positioning jack, and let the vehicle descend gradually. In the process of descending, we should also pay attention to the balance of the vehicle. If the descending speed is too fast, it may impact the vehicle and damage the jack. For the scissor jack, rotate the handle in the opposite direction at a uniform speed to make the cross structure shrink and the vehicle descend smoothly.
